Follow your ambitions of a career in football with a course that
develops talented players while providing full-time education.
The Extended Diploma in Football incorporates the BTEC Level 3
Extended Diploma in Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness) and
the NVQ Level 2 in Activity Leadership.
The structure of this football diploma is two stages over two
years and you need to successfully complete stage one to progress
to stage two. Core topics covered include anatomy, physiology,
nutrition, psychology, coaching and fitness testing and
training.
You will complete 18 units for the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in
Sport and Exercise Science while completing a portfolio of evidence
to gain the NVQ Level 2 component of the qualification.
Within your full-time timetable you will also complete a minimum of
12 hours per week of professional coaching and/or football-related
activities. This includes participating in one of our
representative teams. The Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football
also incorporates emergency response first aid and the safeguarding
children workshop
You will learn through practical participation on the coaching
field supplemented by classroom delivery. Group work and portfolio
building are regular throughout the programme and link with your
practical participation theory. Match day is Wednesday and you
should be prepared for early departure and late return for some
fixtures.
You will develop self confidence, teamwork and organisation skills. You will be expected to manage your time effectively and be responsible for the football club environment in which you are based. You will also develop skills needed to produce professional documents such as letters and reports and to deliver presentations.
Applicants for a Level 3 programme will normally have:
-At least 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including some subjects
related to the proposed area of study) and/or a completed Level 2
Award
- The willingness to study for an additional Level 2 qualification
in English and/or Maths

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an
internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and
numeracy needs supported within the programme.
Successful students can progress to higher education (HE) with links to the USA for scholarships and work experience or into the workplace through our links with Premier Sports Group. This course offers a fantastic opportunity to pursue a long-term career within the football family. If your choice is employment you could work in sports therapy, physiotherapy, sports studie,s coaching, science, sport and exercise sciences, sport science or physical education. Alternatively you could progress to HE to take a teaching qualification.
