You will complete a combination of the units above to achieve your

To gain your award, you complete units 1 and 3 from the

You will be able to understand:
- the principles and requirements of assessment
- different types of assessment method
- how to plan assessment
- how to involve learners and others in assessment
- how to make assessment decisions
- quality assurance of the assessment process
- how to manage information relating to assessment
- the legal and good practice requirements in relation to
assessment
You will provide evidence of the work that you do with your
students and you will also be observed by your allocated assessor.
This will be carried out at your place of work.
You will also have a workbook to complete and will have discussions
with your allocated assessor to demonstrate your knowledge and
understanding.Your allocated assessor will support you in building
a portfolio of evidence. These sessions are carried out at your
workplace wherever possible.
You will have an induction session with one of our specialist
trainers who will go through all of the requirements of the course
and give you the basic knowledge for you to do your own research
with the support of your employer. You will then have practical
experience of assessing your own students while receiving support
visits from your allocated assessor. These sessions are carried out
at your workplace wherever possible.
You gain the Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement. It is for people who assess in workshop or classroom-based environments using assessment methods that are appropriate.
There is no academic entry requirement or previous qualifications required. However, it is a competence-based course and therefore you must be in a related role and have at least two learners that you can assess and support through a vocationally-related qualification.
If you complete all 3 units, you can gain the Certificate in
Assessing Vocational Achievement. This is listed as a separate
course.
On successful completion you will be qualified to assess in the
relevant environment. After a period of time, to gain experience in
the role, you could move on to one of the Level 4 qualifications in
quality assurance.
