You will provide evidence of the work that you do with your
students and you will also be observed by your allocated assessor.
This will be carried out at your place of work.
You will also have a workbook to complete and will have discussions
with your allocated assessor to demonstrate your knowledge and
understanding.Your allocated assessor will support you in building
a portfolio of evidence. These sessions are carried out at your
workplace wherever possible.
You will have an induction session with one of our specialist
trainers who will go through all of the requirements of the course
and give you the basic knowledge for you to do your own research
with the support of your employer. You will then have practical
experience of assessing your own students while receiving support
visits from your allocated assessor. These sessions are carried out
at your workplace wherever possible.
You gain the Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment. It is for people who assess in the work environment using the assessment methods for learners’ work activities.
There is no academic entry requirement. However, it is a competence-based course and so you must be in a related role and have at least two learners that you can assess and support through a vocationally-related qualification.
If you complete all 3 units, you can gain the Certificate in
Assessing Vocational Achievement. This is listed as a separate
course.
On successful completion you will be qualified to assess in the
relevant environment. After a period of time, to gain experience in
the role, you could move on to one of the Level 4 qualifications in
quality assurance.
This suite of qualifications has replaced the A1 Assessor Award.
