The course is suitable for those with some drawing and painting experience. However it is open to those who wish to better their understanding and practise. The group will work together on the same subject matter supplied by the lecturer. If you have any questions throughout the course please do not hesitate to contact us.

Materials

Will be discussed on the first meeting and after each presentation. For the first two days of the class you will require general drawing materials.

  • Charcoal and A2 white drawing paper.
  • Coloured pastels.
  • Cotton cloth
  • Cotton buds
  • Putty rubber.
  • Soft 2B pencil.
  • 4 drawing clips.
  • Small sketch book.
  • A suitable portfolio to carry your work.

Your tutor will advise you on further materials required throughout the course.

What You Study:

The course will comprise of introduction, demonstration, individual assistance, visiting lecturers (DVD presentations). Critique and discussions.

Weeks 1, 5, 8, Saturday mornings will start with one sample presentation followed by drawing and painting the subject matter.

Weeks 1 – 4 will discuss and demonstrate taking your watercolours a step further.

Weeks 5 – 7 will discuss and demonstrate expressive painting outdoors.

Weeks 8 –10 will discuss and demonstrate portrait painting using a model.
