This is a two year course which offers an optional third year at University of Hertfordshire for a full Honours Degree (dependent on grades). 120 or more UCAS points which must be made up of at least one full GCE A level (A2), a BTEC National Diploma/Certificate or equivalent together with 4 subjects at GCSE at Grade C or above including Maths, English Language and Science or equivalent and an interest in sports and fitness. Applications will also be welcome from those working in relevant employment who may not fully meet the above entry requirements but have a number of years relevant experience. What does the course involve?

This is a two year programme run by the University of Hertfordshire and delivered predominately at North Hertfordshire College. The course covers three core areas, Sports Management/Marketing, Sports Coaching/Fitness and Sports Development. Year 1 modules: - Study Skills for Higher Education - Social Aspects of Sports and Exercise - Physiology and Movement Analysis - Introduction to Sports Coaching - Sports Marketing and Event Promotion - Sports Industry Management - Practical Aspects of Sports Science - Fundamentals of Sports Development. Year two modules: - Application of Sports Science - Sociocultural Dynamics of Sport - Sport, Health & Exercise Issues - Applied Research Techniques for Sport - Applied Sports Management - Developing Sports Coaching. The second year includes a work based learning module. Students are assessed through coursework, exams, presentations and practical assignments.

What option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? Successful learners will either progress into employment or continue onto the final year of a full honours degree at the University of Hertfordshire - depending upon final grade.
