wide range of equine subjects. The course offers different
activities including related visits, guest speakers and
demonstrations. The enrichment, along with the variety of units,
helps to prepare students for employment within the equine industry
or higher education. Students are also offered guidance to train
and take BHS exams as we are an approved 'where to train' and exam

covers 10 units which total to 90 credits Work experience - 10
credits Horse tack - 10 credits Animal feeding - 5 credits Horse
presentation - 5 credits Biology - 10 credits Fitness and training
- 10 credits Riding horses on the flat - 10 credits Equitation - 10
credits Working horses from the ground -10 credits Behaviour and
welfare - 10 credits How will I be Taught? There are a huge range
of teaching methods used on this course. Riding our lovely horses
is timetabled at least once a week for each group. Practical yard
sessions, which will include, routine duties as part of your Work
Experience studies. Practical tasks are delivered on the yard with
the emphasis on students gaining, as much as possible, industry
experience and skills to assist with securing employment in the
future. Dissections are used to help deliver knowledge on the
'systems' of the horse How will I be Assessed? Practical tasks on
the equine yard. Written assignments to include posters and
information leaflets. Ridden assessments along with 'ground work'
to include tacking up assessments. Observation - identification of
different muscle fibres and bones. What our students say?
