lecturers and other trainers who work in the lifelong learning
sector (post compulsory education). This course is equivalent to
the Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training. On completion of
the course, candidates will achieve the full teacher qualification
which may lead to Qualified Teacher Learning Skills status (QTLS).

5. Provision enables students to share experience across
disciplines. What will I Study? This is a modular course offered
over four semesters (2 academic years). 4 core units are delivered:
• Planning, Assessing and Evaluating Teaching and Learning
Programmes • Theories and Principles for Planning and Enabling
Learning in a Specialised Subject Area • Professional Practice in
the Lifelong Learning Sector • Curriculum Design in a Specialist
Area You need to have a subject specialist mentor who will support
you in subject specific delivery issues and observe you as part of
the assessment process. Teaching practice opportunities may include
the following areas: Further Education including HE provision
taught in FE settings, Adult and Community Education, Basic Skills
provision within Further and Adult Education, Workplace Setting.
How will I be Taught? This porgramme is delivered through classroom
based sessions which involve group activities and individual work
including case studies, role play, presentations, micro teach,
workshop activities, reading and research. How will I be Assessed?
You will produce a number of teaching practice files to cover 100
hours over 2 years detailing lesson plans, resources, lesson
observations and observed sessions are also assessed. The
assessment of the course is through written assignments that are
linked to the modules listed above. What our students say? I have
