Following on form AS History, A2 will introduce students to a study
of the British Raj in India, 1847-1947 and Aspects of International
relations, 1945-2004. For their coursework, students will be able
to choose to study in depth an issue within the 100 year period and
write an independent study based on a question of their own
devising. For their exam unit, students will have the opportunity

employers & universities What will I Study? Unit 3: Aspects of
International Relations, 1945-2004. This covers the whole of the
Cold War but goes on to explore the aftermath and the resulting
change in relationships between powers and the emergence of new
threats and challenges Unit 4: The Historical Enquiry: India &
Nationalism, 1847-1947. This is the coursework unit where students
will be working independently to produce a 3,500 word essay on a
question of their choice. Students will choose their area of
investigation from within the 100 year period. How will I be
Taught? Learning will take place with a comibination of teacher led
discussion, activity based student participation and plenty of
discussion and debate. Students will be encouraged to ask questions
and explore their own interests within the topics. For A2 there is
greater emphasis on deeper analysis and evaluation and students are
expected to read far more widely and access more challenging
material. Students are expected to devote at least 4.5 hours a week
to self-study. How will I be Assessed? Essay writing forms an
essential part of the course and students should have a high degree
of language amd literary skills. Critical analysis, evaluation,
research skills and interpretation will be crucial to learning.
