You also need a good level of personal presentation, good communication skills, an interest in working with the general public, a good attendance record and be willing to work as part of a team. Acceptance is dependent upon a successful interview.

Assessment:

Assessment takes a variety of forms such as formal written assessments, role-plays, practical work, group work, direct observation and continuous assessment throughout the course. The subject lecturer will advise you on the assessment methods which will be used, at the start of each period of study.

Academic Progression:

After successful completion of the course you could progress to the Level 3 Travel and Tourism programme or a similar course in a different subject area.

Career Progression:

After completion of the course you can pursue a career in the travel and tourism industry. Recent past students can be found at Norwich Airport as ground crew or cabin crew and in travel agents within Norfolk and further afield.

Full Description:

The vocational qualification is accredited by BTEC along with City & Guilds. You will study from a range of units such as:

  • UK Travel Industry
  • UK Tourist Destinations
  • Customer Services
  • Marketing
  • Planning Visits
  • Employability Skills
  • Airports and Airlines

The programme is designed to give you a range of valuable qualifications.

There are also a series of day visits throughout the year. Functional Skills in Maths and English will be completed alongside your course timetable.

During the course, visiting speakers and outside visits may also be arranged and are a valuable means of increasing your knowledge and experience of the industry. To meet any costs incurred for these visits you will be expected to contribute as appropriate.

Costs:

There are a number of compulsory day visits during the year which will further help you to understand the needs and expectations of travellers. Further details with regards to the visits and destinations will be confirmed when you start the course. The cost is expected to be £50

If examinations need to be retaken then fees may be charged
