Course Description:

The Foundation Diploma in Travel and Tourism is an ideal course for you if you are interested in the field of travel and tourism and would like an introduction to this industry. The Foundation Diploma explores some of the basic principles of the travel and tourism industry in five key subject areas: planning journeys, destinations, customer experience, working in travel and tourism, and products and services. It will also introduce you to the variety of career pathways available across the UK and aboard. You will learn about different destinations and modes of transport, as well as discovering the attractions your local area has to offer visitors. The course also looks at the importance of customer service to this sector and gives you the chance to develop valuable people skills. You will also have the opportunity to work in a team to create a new product or service. The Diploma will give you the essential knowledge and personal skills that you will need for college or work and help you make choices about what career you want to follow. It combines learning in the classroom with experience in the workplace, and the opportunity to study a particular topic that interests you in more depth. During the course, you will be able to do at least ten days work experience, which is a great way to apply what you have learnt in a working environment.
