The Manufacturing and Product Design Foundation Diploma is an ideal course for you if you are interested in manufacturing and product design and would like an introduction to this fascinating industry. Because it is such a diverse industry, the Diploma allows you to study in any of the five sub-sectors: food, textiles, processing, chemicals and engineering. The Foundation Diploma will introduce you to the business of manufacturing, how businesses operate and the issues that affect them. You will learn about the process of manufacturing, from the raw materials to the sale of the finished product. As well as classroom learning, you will get lots of hands-on practical experience, which will help you develop skills like team-working and creative thinking. You will have the chance to work with your fellow students in a project where you can put together a new product design. During the course, you will be able to do at least ten days work experience, which is a great way to apply what you have learnt in a working environment.
