Aims of the programme
The programme is designed to provide a practical and flexible route
to a formal qualification in management, giving you accredited
recognition for what you already do as a practising supervisor. It
will enable you to develop your skills (and the accompanying
knowledge and understanding) to a higher level of competence.
You will need to be in a team leader/supervisory role to be able to gather the required evidence of your competence.
Core Skills:The programme starts with an induction session, which highlights the key aspects gathering and portfolio building. This is followed by workshop tutorials and study sessions to provide the underpinning knowledge you will need for all modules. At the end of the induction, and after each tutorial, you will have an action plan to work to that has been negotiated between your tutor and yourself.
Assessment:Your work will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence submitted to demonstrate your competence. The overall objective of assessment is to ensure that you have met the performance 'criteria and range' as detailed in the Standards.
Assessment methods include:
• direct observation of your at-work activities• question and
answer sessions
• reports on projects
• using others as a 'witness' to your capability (as
appropriate)
These methods will be explained more fully during induction. Once you decide you are ready to be assessed for a particular competence, the most appropriate method of assessment will be discussed and agreed with you.
Full Description:Attendance
The programme can be flexible, to suit your own situation and
requirements.
At your first meeting with your course tutor, you will agree a timetable, to include a series of workshops and tutorials. These are usually arranged every month. However, in between these sessions, you will need to identify assessment opportunities and to gather suitable evidence relevant to the criteria. Your assessor will discuss with you the suitability of these opportunities and the appropriate types of evidence needed.
