LEVEL 1 DIPLOMA PLUMBING & BUILDING SERVICES

This course has both theory and practical parts which will provide you with the introductory skills and knowledge necessary for the modern building services environment. This will include a fundamental understanding and insight into Plumbing, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Electrical Installation and Heating and Ventilation.

Practical workshop projects will need to be completed that include:

- The cutting, forming and connecting of copper tube

- The installation of cold water systems

- The installation of hot water systems

- Plumbing of W/C suites and radiator systems

Essential skills will also be provided to support and develop numeracy and literacy skills, along with an Introduction to Employment and Introduction to Basic Costing.

How you will gain the qualification

Assessment is by a range of methods which may include assignments, projects, case studies, practical exercises, question papers and portfolio building.

What qualifications you need

You will need to have 4 GCSEs at grade E or above, one of which must be Maths, English or a Science, or successful completion of the Skills for Construction course or equivalent. You will need to attend an interview with the Course Tutor.

Where to next

You may progress to Level 2 Plumbing & Building Services CGLI 6035 qualification or Level 2 Construction & Built Environment (with relevant GCSEs) or an Apprenticeship.
