Stage 1 Entry (Yr.1.)This is a course for absolute beginners meeting once a week, for 2 hours. You will cover topics such as greetings, personal details, likes and dislikes, discussing needs, family, possessions and relations, weather, time and events in the past. Stage 1- cont.- Entry (Yr.2) The second year of a class meeting once a week, for 2 hours covering topics such as asking for things, basic commands and instructions discussing health, money, describing and improving listening skills. How you will gain the qualification

It is possible to gain a number of Agored Cymru (OCN) credits for oral, aural, reading and written work throughout the courses. All assessment will be integrated into the learning process. During Stages 1(Yr2) of the Entry course, students can opt be externally assessed by the WJEC in the following examinations: Defnyddio&rsquo r Gymraeg: Mynediad (The Use of Welsh: Entry) during June of the second year of Entry Level. This involves a written ,aural, and oral assessment of your acquired knowledge. Progress will be monitored via an Individual Learning Plan. PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES Competence in Welsh is considered a valuable asset in the workplace, especially following recent legislation such as the Welsh Language Act. Gaining a qualification such as this can only enhance job prospects in Wales. The Open College Network accreditation is recognised by colleges in Wales and England and can be used towards entry for further study.


What qualifications you need

There are no entry requirements other than a desire to speak Welsh and a willingness to take an active part in lessons. The two year Entry level course (or its equivalent) must be completed prior to the Foundation course.


Where to next

After 2 years, learners can sit a WJEC examination (June).
