General information

Speaking another language improves your employment prospects in the UK and overseas, and makes foreign holidays more enjoyable. Our courses give you the skills to communicate clearly and effectively in your chosen language and introduce you to the culture of the country. The courses are taught in our well-equipped language centre at Rookery Lane and can be studied part-time in the evening (subject to enrolments).

Course content

All four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) will be practised. Topics covered are negotiated with the students from the following list:

  • Ordering food in a restaurant
  • Shopping for food and/or souvenirs
  • Booking into a hotel
  • Telephone skills
  • Buying a railway ticket
  • Signs and notices
  • Making appointments including telling the time
  • Weather

No formal entry requirements.

Additional course costs

The cost of this course is £195. In addition, the course tutor may ask you to buy a text book.

Dates and times

The next course will begin on Wednesday 27 February 2012 and runs from 7pm to 9pm. The duration of this course is 15 weeks.
