CSK-L2 is accredited by the Office of the Qualifications & Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) into the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). The qualification number for CSK-L2 is 500/7938/4.

Course content

This course is offered to candidates who have a willingness to explore ‘self ‘in order to become more honest and congruent and learn to use counselling skills either in a voluntary or employed setting. This course will not qualify you as a counsellor, but it may assist you in deciding whether or not to continue training. This qualification builds on the Level 2 Award in Introduction to Counselling Skills; however you do not need to complete this course to apply.

This course will enable you to:

  • Use counselling skills ethically and safely
  • Establish and sustain the boundaries of the helping role
  • Work empathically as a helper
  • Focus on the helpee’s needs and concerns
  • Use self awareness in helping work
  • Use a range of counselling skills to facilitate the helping interaction
  • Use feedback and reflection to enhance counselling skills

Teaching and assessment

Assessment will be via a candidate portfolio and an externally assessed written exam paper.

Entry requirements

You will be invited to attend a one-to-one informal interview.

Additional course costs

There is also an exam and registration fee (tbc) payable.

Progression

Successful completion of this course leads to eligibility for the two-year Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

Dates and times

This course begins in September and runs once per academic year. The duration of this course is 15 weeks.
