Teaching and assessment
The CELTA course is divided into two parts: training inputs and teaching practice. In teaching practice, you will teach real ESOL classes at Bromley College and give and receive feedback on your own and your peers' teaching. In training input, your trainers will deliver practical training sessions on the basic techniques and subject knowledge needed to teach language. Assessment is based on your teaching practice and four written assignments for CELTA.
Entry requirements
You will participate in an interview and written assessment.
Additional course costs
The fee for this course is £1200 (including £127 examination fee).
Progression
This CELTA qualification will enable you to begin practicing as an ESOL teacher in both the state and private sectors, or abroad. Once you are working as an ESOL teacher in the state sector, you will be able to gain fully-qualified teacher status by completing higher generic and subject specific qualifications, such as the DTLLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) and the Additional Diploma in Teaching English (ESOL) in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
If you choose to work in a private language school in the UK or overseas, you can progress to the Cambridge DELTA qualification.
Dates and times
This course begins in September and February and runs one day a week. The duration of this course is 18 weeks.
