General information

If you wish to specialise in business, this is the course for you. As well as studying four core units, you will also study 2 additional units, which cover different areas of Business including Marketing, Finance, Accounting and Human Resources.

Course content

The Subsidiary Diploma is made up of 6 Units - 4 mandatory units and 2 optional units from the Business pathways above. Successful completion of the Subsidiary Diploma will give you the equivalent of one A Level.

Students will also be given the opportunity to study for the IFS Level 3 Certificate in Financial Studies which covers 3 units as follows:

Unit 1 – Why Money Matters Unit 2 – Risk & Reward in Personal Finance Unit 3 – Making Personal Financial Judgments

All three units are externally examined, Units 1 & 2 by multiple choice questions and unit 3 by case study.

Students will initially study the Subsidiary Diploma in Business in Year 1. On successful completion of this qualification, they may be able to progress onto the full Extended Diploma in Year 2.

Teaching and assessment

All units will be internally assessed using a variety of methods such as case studies, investigative and project-based assignments. Units will be individually graded as pass, merit or distinction and an overall grade will be awarded on completion of the programme.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs A*-C, including English and Maths or BTEC Level 2 Diploma (merit or distinction). An interview will also be required.

Additional course costs

Registration fee: £137* Students will need to purchase their own stationery and text book(s). *Subject to amendment.

Progression

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business. Alternatively students may progress to employment and other professional qualifications.
