General information

This course is suitable for applicants who have either completed NVQ level 2, or have had extensive work experience in the field of social care.You need to be employed in a supervisory, or senior carer position, and be paid a salary. You will attend college one day each week and study towards the Health & Social Care framework.

Teaching and assessment

Over the period of study learners spend time in college as well as gaining practical experience in the workplace. Candidates build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating competencies and knowledge. Functional Skills are assessed by test.

Entry requirements

You need to be employed in a senior carer position for a minimum of 30 hours per week and have a contract of employment to prove this. You also need to have appropriate prior training or care experience and have CRB clearance. You must also have a minimum Level 1 qualification in English.

Progression

You can progress onto higher education or the Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and Management or full time employment.
