Signature Level 1 Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL)
No prior knowledge or experience is necessary. You will need an interest in communicating with Deaf people using British Sign Language.
What will I study?This course is designed to enable learners to communicate with Deaf people using BSL, on a range of topics, using simple, everyday language.
The course is divided into 3 units:
- Introduction to BSL
- Conversational BSL
- Communicate in BSL about Everyday Life
Topics include meeting people, at home, using numbers, interests, activities and the weather.

Course Entry CriteriaThere are no entry criteria other than a keen interest in this subject.
The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:
- More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
- 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
- 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
- 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
- Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost
All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.
What will I get at the end of the course?You would have the basic skills to communicate with people who are Deaf and will receive a SIGNATURE Level 1 Certificate on successful achievement.
What can I do next?The SIGNATURE Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL).
How much does it cost?The course is priced at £250.00 per delegate (prices are subject to change) and this includes all tuition, paperwork and certificate.
