Signature Level 1 Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL)

Who is the course for?

No prior knowledge or experience is necessary. You will need an interest in communicating with Deaf people using British Sign Language.

What will I study?

This course is designed to enable learners to communicate with Deaf people using BSL, on a range of topics, using simple, everyday language.

The course is divided into 3 units:

• Introduction to BSL
• Conversational BSL
• Communicate in BSL about Everyday Life

Topics include meeting people, at home, using numbers, interests, activities and the weather.

How will the course be delivered?

Through classroom based activities alongside a Deaf, BSL qualified tutor and other delegates at a similar level.

Course Entry Criteria

There are no entry criteria other than a keen interest in this subject.

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:

• More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
• 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
• 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
• 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
• Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost

All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.

What will I get at the end of the course?

You would have the basic skills to communicate with people who are Deaf and will receive a SIGNATURE Level 1 Certificate on successful achievement.

What can I do next?

The SIGNATURE Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language (BSL).

How much does it cost?

The course is priced at £250.00 per delegate (prices are subject to change) and this includes all tuition, paperwork and certificate.
