This course is aimed at adult learners who wish to study for pleasure or to gain language skills to enable them to communicate at a basic level for holiday, relocation or work purposes.
What will I study?A number of topics are taught in the present tense including vocabulary and grammar structures appropriate for this level of study. Learners will communicate on a simple level in everyday scenarios. Topics include:

- Personal information
- Asking for directions
- Travel
- Booking accommodation

All our classes are for adult students only (you must be 19 years old or over to join), and are taught by experienced language tutors who are highly qualified. Our emphasis is on enjoying your language learning. There are no examinations to worry about!
Course Entry CriteriaNo previous knowledge of French is required to study at this level, although a keen interest in the language is necessary. The course is also suitable for learners who have studied at beginner/improver level in previous years and who wish to brush up on their skills.
The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:
- More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
- 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
- 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
- 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
- Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost
All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.
What will I get at the end of the course?A Blackburn College certificate of attendance.
