Who is the course for?

The course is open to anyone who already has some basic skills and knowledge within garment construction & sewing machine operation. The entry requirements for the course are a Level One in Fashion & Textiles or basic knowledge & experience of the subject area.

The course is open to anyone who already has some basic skills and knowledge within garment construction & sewing machine operation. The entry requirements for the course are a Level One in Fashion & Textiles or basic knowledge & experience of the subject area.

What will I study?

The course is designed to give you the opportunity to develop your knowledge in the field of Design, Pattern Drafting, Garment Construction & Textile Techniques. The Certificate is comprised of 2 units; Research and Design Development within a Chosen Craft Area and Making a Finished Craft Piece. You will learn how to draft a pattern block, adapt a pattern from your own design and produce a garment with textile embellishment. Although this course is mainly practical, there is a small element of written theory.

How will the course be delivered?

The course runs for 3 hours per week for 16 weeks. Most of the tools and equipment will be provided but there may be a small cost towards materials.

Course Entry Requirements

A basic knowledge of the subject area is needed or progression from the Level One Fashion & Textiles qualification.

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:
• More than 4 weeks notice – no charge

• 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost

• 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost

• 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost

• Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost

All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.

What will I get at the end of the course?

Acentis Level Two Certificate in Craft & Design

What can I do next?

This course gives you skills & opportunity to progress either onto the Level 3 Fashion & Textiles full time qualification or the NVQ Textiles Apprenticeship programme.

How much does it cost?

£140 per person plus £38 registration fee (prices are subject to change)
