This creative course is ideal for anyone with a strong interest in
fashion who wishes to learn how to make and adapt their own
patterns. It will include innovative projects and experimental
approaches to working in the 3D.
You will learn:
- pattern cutting
- basic garment construction
- garment deconstruction and reconstruction
- creating innovative silhouettes
- professional portfolio skills
You will learn how to generate a pattern from a 2D concept into a 3D form and produce your very own basic block pattern and toile. You will then learn how to adapt patterns from your basic block pattern, understand body shape and fit, and create and alter patterns to your own specifications. You will learn how to use dart manipulation and include your own design seams and detailing. You will also learn how to take a pattern from an existing garment.
It will be a fun but creatively challenging course which will include demonstrations and practical tasks throughout. You will be able to document and present your creations effectively and professionally to portfolio standard.
