Description

This qualification is equivalent to four GCSEs A-C grades and is aimed at developing students interest in the sport industry.

Course content

This course is designed for students who have an interest in sport. It is useful for students wishing to pursue a career in sport or leisure, or hoping to progress onto advanced level sports science or sport (performance and excellence) courses.

  • Anatomy and physiology for sport
  • Practical sport
  • Fitness testing and training
  • Psychology for sports performance
  • Development of personal fitness (5 credits)
  • Effects of exercise on the body systems ( 5 credits)

Entry Requirements

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade D or above which include English and Mathematics or a Level 1 sport qualification with Merit grade. Students with a Pass grade will be considered subject to an additional assessment and/or supporting reference.

Delivery & Assessment methods

Delivery will be classroom based for underpinning knowledge and practicals will be held in sports halls and gyms. Students will produce a range of assessments from posters to peer assessments to writing assignments.

Progression

BTEC Level 3 Diploma/Certificate in Sport / Sport Science or employment.
