Organic Gardening:
Using organic methods of gardening has increased in popularity over
the past few years as interest in healthy eating and in growing
your own produce gains momentum. Also, chemicals have become less
available as protecting the environment grows ever more important.
This course introduces a range of methods to help you grow crops
and ornamentals organically, e.g. Companion planting, good
cultivation practices, crop rotation, encouraging natural
predators.

Pruning (General & Seasonal):
This one day practical workshop offers a basic guide to the general
pruning methods of common garden plants and timings of pruning for
more specific plantings.

The soil in your garden:
Getting to know your garden soil! A practical workshop, with the
basic theory on the ‘muddy stuff’. The most important aspect of
growing healthy plants is the soil it is cultivated in. This course
covers soil texture, structure and pH ensuring the best conditions
for healthy plants. Bring a sample of your garden soil for
testing.

Plant Botany:
Being able to understand how plants work is essential for any keen
gardener and course offers a basic look at the structure and
function of plants, both on the inside and on the outside.

Vegetable Growing:
This course examines the basics of growing vegetables, from
preparing the soil through to harvesting.

Fruit Growing:
This course examines the essentials of growing common soft fruits
such as raspberries and strawberries, and top fruits such as apples
and pears.
