L2 Intermediate Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is a way to train, develop and achieve qualifications for the following
job roles; Process Operators, Metal Working, Fabrication, and Welding, Machine
Operative and CNC Operators; Maintenance Operative; Quality Control batch work.

Course content

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations (QCF) Level 2 Award in Industrial Environment Awareness Functional Skills English Level 1 and Mathematics Level 1 Employer Rights & Responsibility & Personal Learning & Thinking Skills

• Health & Safety for working in Engineering Environment
• Basic Engineering Skills – Engineering & Technical Benchfitting
• Working with and communicating in engineering
• 2 specialist performing engineering operations units to suit company business
• English and mathematics skills
• English and mathematics skills contextualised for business.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be employed, recommended and supported by their employer. Ideally English and Mathematics to a sufficient level - equivalent to GCSE D or Level 1 - to enable successful completion of the Apprenticeship. Interview and Basic Skills initial assessment Willing to work flexibly, including shift working depending on age and experience. Applicants to this apprenticeship may already be working in the Engineering or Manufacturing Sectors, or appropriate job role

Delivery & Assessment methods

Combination of “off the job” in college, and “on and off” the job training in company 1 year programme 1 day per week (initial block of 2 weeks then day release) in college plus
