The course aims to prepare students for a career in Fine Art or to enable progression to degree level study. Fine Art involves making a practical and personal response to ideas and concepts through the vehicle of drawing, digital means, painting, mixed media, collage, sculpture printmaking and installation approaches reflecting contemporary practice.

The course caters for students from a variety of backgrounds and provides a thorough grounding in the acquisition of advanced skills and develops the ability to work independently pursuing their own themes and strategies to realise them.

Entry Requirements
One of the following; 120 UCAS points. 2 A Levels. 4 AS Levels. BTEC Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design. Level 3 qualification in an Art or related subject. All applicants will be interviewed with their portfolio of artwork.
Delivery & Assessment methods
Year 1 is based upon skills acquisition within increasingly personal practice and year 2 develops a personal professional identity within contemporary art practice. The FEED initiative provides award winning collaborative opportunities through high profile visiting speakers, special workshops and events Assessment is through percentage marking that translates into Pass, Merit and Distinction grading
Progression
Course graduates can automatically progress on to the second year of a full honours degree at Birmingham City University or employment. BCU will interview graduates with a Distinction profile for possible year 3 entry.
