Description

This programme provides an entry into computer-aided design for trainees and apprentices. It also enables traditional drawing office operatives to progress into computer-aided design and manufacture using 2D drawings.

Course content

Students will acquire an ability to describe and use drawing commands. Produce drawings for a wide range of uses such as graphic design, architecture and engineering. Edit existing drawings. Gain experience in the use of blocks. Acquire an understanding of the potential use of blocks in the creation of custom libraries.

A candidate who satisfactory completes this scheme will have a competence in using CAD software for the production of a wide variety of drawings.

Entry Requirements

None, but being familiar with computers is desirable. No interview is required for this course. Applicants should attend an enrolment session prior to course commencement.

Delivery & Assessment methods

There are practical assignments and an on-line multi-choice test. Start date: Mon 10th September 2012 or Thursday 13th September 2012 (Two courses available) 2 hours/wk. Delivered at James Watt Campus

Progression

City & Guilds 3D Computer-Aided Design or 2D Level 3.
