This is a practical programme designed to help you develop gardening skills and give you the basic experience for a wide range of careers in landscaping, garden maintenance or garden centres.

Entry Requirements

It is essential that your Initial Assessment results show that you are working at Level 1. You will also need to have achieved 4 GCSEs at grades A–D, including English, Maths and Science or equivalent.

You will also work towards nationally recognised Functional Skills qualifications (English, Maths and ICT).

What Next?

Completion of this programme may enable progress to an Apprenticeship, the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horticulture or other programmes in gardening. Successful completion will also open up employment opportunities in organisations such as local authorities, landscaping and garden maintenance businesses, garden centres, private gardens or self-employment.
