Considering a career in floristry? Then this is the course for you. The course is suitable for a change in career or as a natural progression from basic floristry skills.

Entry Requirements

It is essential that your Initial Assessment results show that you are working at Level 1. You will also need to have achieved 4 GCSEs at grades A-D, including English, Maths and Science or equivalent.

What You Will Study

Year 1 - Certificate

  • Art and design

  • Planted designs
  • Tied designs
  • Floral arrangements

Year 2 - Diploma

  • Funeral and sympathy designs
  • Wedding designs
  • Shop display
  • Work based industry unit*
  • Function decorating

During year 1 you will complete 5 units to achieve the Certificate and a further 5 units in year 2 will give you the Diploma.

Functional Skills
You will also work towards nationally recognised functional qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.

What Next?

Successful students may wish to progress to Level 3 Diploma in Floristry, alternatively you may wish to seek employment in a floristry shop or start up your own business in a range of areas including weddings, funerals and other functions.

*40 hours of work experience within a florist will be expected to be achieved during the second year as part of the work-based industry unit.
