To provide those working in the fisheries environment with the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge to enter and progress within the industry.

Entry Requirements

It is essential that your Initial Assessment results show that you are working at Level 1. It would be also helpful to have the following:

  • GSCEs in English and Maths would be an advantage
  • A suitable work placement – we can help you find one
  • A good reference
  • Relevant work experience and knowledge or your chosen industry.

Functional Skills

You will also gain nationally recognised Functional Skills qualifications (English and Maths), and Emergency First Aid.

What Next?

Successful apprentices may progress to a pathway in hatchery management, fish biology or fish related occupations such as fisheries officer or aquatic assistant. Career opportunities include fishery assistant or water bailiff.
