Who is this course for? These qualifications aim to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health and social care workforce. The Edexcel Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF) confirms competence in areas of health and social care as appropriate and is the required qualification for registration and regulatory requirements in the social care sector in England. Learners have the opportunity to take a general qualification in health and social care What qualifications or experience do I need ? You should have the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (adults) or similar qualification at Level 2. Students can be accepted if you can demonstrate the ability to work at a level 3 course. Students need to work in a Health and Social Care setting a Minimum of 16 hours a week. You must have this placement or work in place before you begin the course and evidence will have to be shown before enrolment. In accordance with Edexcel you must have opportunities to demonstrate supervisory role or be working in domiciliary care. You must have a minimum of 6 hours paid employment. Working towards Level 3 in Literacy is required. What will I study ? You will be required to attend college one day a week for the course and need to use online learning. The course covers the mandatory units and various optional units depending on your work setting Core units include: Promote Communication in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings Engage in Personal Development in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings Promote Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings Principles for Implementing Duty of Care in Health, Social Care Or Children's and Young People's Settings Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care The Role of The Health and Social Care Worker Promote Person Centred Approaches in Health and Social Care Promote and Implement Health and Safety in Health and Social Care Promote Good Practice in Handling Information in Health and Social Care Settings How will I be assessed ? You will be assessed by the completion of on line learning portfolio, direct observations in the workplace and presentations What qualifications could I achieve ? Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) Generic Pathway What can the course lead to ? Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Health and Social care, progression to university or progression into the Health and Social Care workforce. Senior care assistants/support workers/key workers in residential settings Senior healthcare assistants/support workers in community and primary care environments Senior care assistants/support workers/key workers in domiciliary services Senior care assistants/support workers/key workers in day services Community-based senior care assistants/support workers/key workers, including those working in specialist areas, eg dementia, learning disabilities Personal assistants employed directly by the individual they support or their families How do I join the course ? You need to complete an application form and return to Barnet and Southgate College Will I need an interview ? Yes You will be required to complete literacy assessments as part of the interview process in order to show you are working at the correct level Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? You will be expected to purchase a text book (approximately �20.00) and will be asked to contribute towards trips to provide enrichment . Students will also be required to undertake a CRB in order to do Work Experience (�50.00)
