Work placement is an integral part of your programme of study so you get practical opportunities to put your new knowledge into practice What qualifications or experience do I need ? No formal qualifications are required to get on the course. You need to be working at least 12 hours a week in Health and Social Care setting or be prepared to work 12 hours a week paid or unpaid in Health and Social Care settings. Evidence will need to be proven before enrolment. Working towards Literacy Level 2 is required. What will I study ? The course includes a mixture of study methods. Part of the Diploma you will study 9 core units plus a choice of optional units. The course requires you to attend 1 day a week and attend paid or unpaid placement 3 days a week. You will be expected to complete course work on-line. Modules covered: SCH 21 - Introduction to communication in health and social care SCH 22 - Introduction to personal development in health and social care SCH 23 - Introduction to equality and inclusion in health and social care SCH 24 - Introduction to duty of care in health and social care HSC 024 - Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care HSC 025 - The role of the health and social care worker HSC 026 - Implement person-centred approaches in health and social care HSC027 - Contribute to health and safety in health and social care HSC 028 - Handle information in health and social care settings How will I be assessed ? You will be assessed through course work completed on line and in the classroom. You will be assigned an assessor who will visit you in the workplace and observe your work practice. What qualifications could I achieve ? On successful completion of the course students will achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. What can the course lead to ? It is anitcipated that learners will progress to the level 3 in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF), or to specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which they work. How do I join the course ? You will need to apply through course information by completing and returning an application form. You will then be invited for an interview. Will I need an interview ? Yes. All applicants will be interviewed and be required to undertake a literacy assessment. Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? Students will be required to purchase textbooks (approx �20) and stationery. Criminal Record Bureau check may be required (approx �49).
