This course allows candidates to develop a range of appropriate practical skills, knowledge and understanding relevant for contemporary art and design practice.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants would normally be expected to have some knowledge, understanding or level of skill relating to art and design. It is recommended that applicants have passed Art & Design and English at Intermediate 2 or National 5, or have at least achieved core skills communication at SCQF Level 5.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
This course is ideal for students who wish to create portfolios by experimenting and developing art and design skills through a variety of subjects in order to progress to advanced studies either at University or HND courses at Aberdeen College.
Students undertaking this course to prepare for application to 1st year of University Art and Design courses will need to have the required Higher exam results already. However, students may also enter this course with Intermediate 2 Art and English passes in order to prepare for progression to HND courses.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Assessment will take place throughout the year - students will be given an opportunity to review, discuss and present their current work to teaching staff and peers, as well as conducting self-evaluation.
Summative Assessment will take place at the end of the teaching block when students will present all their work to a staff panel.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Students successfully completing this course may progress to HNC/HND courses, for example HND Art & Design, HND Textiles or HND Visual Communication.
