BTEC L1 Certificate IT Users

Who is this course for? The course is mainly aimed at 16 - 19 year olds who are thinking about progressing to Level 2 programmes in IT, Design or Media disciplines. This course will give you the opportunity to gain a wide range of skills related to the vocational subjects but also to develop basic literacy and numeracy skills. For those who have no previous experience in IT and Multimedia this course enables you to find your chosen pathway before progressing onto the Level 2 courses. What qualifications or experience do I need ? Applicants will need to have completed; * Either: 2 GCSEs grade A*-E * Or an Entry Level qualification * We will need a satisfactory reference What will I study ? You will study a mixture of compulsory / core units and specialist units from a wide range of disciplines. Students will study: * English * Mathematics * Life Skills * Work Experience * Word processing * Internet and e-mail * PowerPoint * Business graphics * Introduction to Website Development How will I be assessed ? All units are assessed through coursework and graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. You are required to achieve a minimum of a pass grade in all compulsory units and two from the specialist units. What can the course lead to ? Students can progress to a number of Level 1 and 2 courses, such as BTEC Diploma in IT or Multimedia Production.
