Who is this course for? A student who wishes to study full-time to progress to university courses having recently achieved a range of GCSE qualifications. What qualifications or experience do I need ? GCSE grades A*-C in at least six academic subjects in one sitting. You must have a Grade B in Maths and Additional Science or Physics. What will I study ? AS Physics specification - 8PH01 Examining Board - EDEXCEL Unit 1 - Physics on the go Unit 2 - Physics at work Unit 3 - Exploring physics * In addition, Tutorial and workshop support will be added How will I be assessed ? Assessment will be through: * examination for units 1 & 2 * class based coursework examination for unit 3 according to the specification of the awarding Examination Board for each subject. What qualifications could I achieve ? On successful completion of this course, you will achieve AS Level certificates in each subject on your programme. What can the course lead to ? On successful completion of this course, you may progress to Year 2 of the A Level programme to take A2 subjects according to the subjects and grades that you have achieved. How do I join the course ? You must complete a full-time application form and make an appointment for an interview with a Tutor. References will be required from your previous educational establishment. Will I need an interview ? Yes, before you can enrol. Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? Yes, students are expected to purchase a textbook for the course and the following are recommended texts authored by Mike Benn and Graham George.
