Description

Security officers are responsible for the safety of people and premises such as worksites, warehouses and business outlets. All security officers and security guards need to be licensed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) – and this security training course gives you the skills you need to apply for that licence.

You study three modules: working in the private security industry, working as a security officer, and conflict management for the private security industry.

You learn how to work within the law, assess and reduce the risk of violence, identify behaviour that indicates an escalation towards violence, and record and report an incident.

All security officers and security guards need to be licensed by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) – and this security training course gives you the skills you need to apply for that licence.

Learning activities include lectures, role plays, practical sessions and group work.

On successful completion of the course you will be able to apply for an SIA licence which will allow you to work as a security guard. The qualification awarded is the Level 2 Award in Security Guarding. In addition you will enhance your communication skills, self confidence and your ability to deal with conflict.

No prior qualifications required. Student must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

On successful completion of the course you will be able to apply for an SIA licence which will allow you to work in England or Wales as a security guard. You can further enhance your skills and employability by enrolling on a Door Supervision Level 2 where physical intervention is the additional module. CCTV is another course you could consider.
