What does the course include?
The award is designed for people who want to work as a CCTV Operator undertaking surveillance of public spaces and consists of three mandatory units.
Unit 1: Working in the Private Security Industry
Unit 2: Working as a CCTV Operator
Unit 3: Practical Use of CCTV Equipment
The SIA currently recognises that it is essential for all CCTV Public Space Surveillance (PSS) Operators to have undergone a structured programme of training and education resulting in recognised qualifications if they are to be effective and professional in their role This course is the practical response to this requirement.

With the upcoming Olympics games and futures international event scheduled you may be employed by many different organisations, including hospitals, airports, large businesses and construction companies.

What do I need to get on this course?
There are no prior qualifications required this is appropriate to new entrants to the industry; people transferring from other security functions, as well as those whose job includes public spaces surveillance.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through both internal assessment (practical tasks) and external Assessment (multiple choice testing). You will need to apply for your SIA license badge.
Where does it lead?
You are able to apply for a licence to practice within the Security industry from the Security Industry Authority (SIA). There is also the opportunity to undertake further learning in other areas of the private security industry, such as Spectator Safety or Door Supervision.
