Licensing laws in England and Wales state that anyone who authorises the sale of alcohol to the public must hold a personal licence. Before you can apply for a personal licence you need a qualification - and that’s what this course offers.

If you complete pass this training course you will then be able to apply to your local authority for a licence to sell alcohol.

- the nature and strength of alcohol and the effect on the body
- the law in relation to premises licences
- the role and responsibilities of the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS)
- the law in relation to Temporary Event Notices
- the rights and legal duties of the responsible persons in relation to operation of licensed premises
- the law in relation to the protection of children on licensed premises
- the powers of the police and other authorities in relation to licensed premises
- prohibitions and exemptions in relation to licensable activities

You learn in a classroom environment with activities, a handbook explaining licensing law and a 40-question multiple choice exam.

On successful completion of the course you will have the necessary knowledge to be able to apply for the licence and also authorise the retail sale of alcohol. The qualification awarded is the Level 2 National Certificate Personal Licence Holders.

No prior qualifications required.

On successful completion of the course you could further enhance your skills and employability with Level 3 qualification. Or you could look at our other related courses such as conflict management and door supervision.
