Business Level 2 Diploma

Build your knowledge and understanding of organisations in the business environment with the Business Level 2 Diploma. By covering a range of business-related topics you can start a career at a junior level in the public or private sector, or progress to further study.

The course is practical and work-related and provides a broad foundation in business education. You will learn by completing projects and assignments based on real businesses in the area.
The course units will deal with various aspects of business including business principles and business skills. There will be 11 units of study:
Core units
- Enterprise in the business world
- Finance for business
- Mandatory unit
- Principles of marketing

Optional units
- Recruitment, selection and employment
- Business online
- Visual merchandising in retail business
Most units are assessed by assignment, although the core units are assessed by externally marked exams, one online and one written. Teaching activities include extensive group work and independent research, using texts, online resources and external visits.

A good foundation in understanding business operations and contexts. On completion you will be awarded a pass, merit or distinction.

Applicants for a Level 2 programme will normally have:
- at least four GCSEs at grade D or above and/or a completed Level 1 award
- GCSEs to include English and maths at grade D or above or Level 1 functional skills qualifications
- The willingness to study for an additional qualification in English and/or maths

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment.

The first diploma has been designed to develop knowledge and understanding in the business sector and provides an opportunity to achieve a nationally-recognised Level 2 vocational qualification.
The course is excellent preparation if you wish to progress to BTEC National Diploma in Business Apprenticeships or to enter employment. The course gives you a highly transferable qualification and develops essential knowledge and skills.

All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.
