Build your knowledge and understanding of organisations in the business environment with the Diploma in Business. By covering a range of business-related topics you can start a career at a junior level in the public or private sector, or progress to further study.

These units make up the qualification, which is equivalent to four
GCSEs at grades C to A*.
A mandatory requirement for all learners is the pursuit of
functional skills. These provide English and Maths equivalent to
GCSE C if successfully passed and allow progressing to the National
Diploma if desired.
Note that there are external tests to be taken for these. There are
no examinations for the BTEC qualification as all assessment is
coursework and assignment based. Some assessment may be
multiple-choice under timed conditions. There are short multiple
choice tests for the functional skills attainment.
Teaching activities include extensive group work, and independent
research using texts, the internet and external visits.
On completing this course you will develop your personal and
professional skills which would include time management,
self-confidence, working under pressure, working to deadlines,
group working, presenting information, problem-solving and personal
values.
Through subject content you will gain a good understanding of types
of organisation and their operations in the national economy.
Through career planning you will be prepared to enter employment or
to progress to a Level 3 course.
Applicants for a Level 2 programme will normally have:
- at least 4 GCSEs at grade D or above and/or a completed Level 1
award. GCSEs to include English and maths at grade D or above or
Level 1 Functional Skills qualifications
- the willingness to study for an additional qualification in
English and/or maths

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an
initial assessment. All students will have their literacy and
numeracy needs supported within the programme.
You can progress to entry level workplace positions or further study and training on a Level 3 extended diploma course.
