You will learn how to provide Swedish body massage and explore its effects and benefits. You will learn about anatomy and physiology, how to monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon and about client care and communication in beauty related industries.

There are no formal assessments for this course but your tutor will observe and guide you through the programme.

The course will be spent within the practical working salon to practice and perform the practical application of this type of massage. There is a strong emphasis on working and learning with others and you are regularly set tasks to be completed in partnership with other students on the programme. You will also need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for you own learning.

You will also gain wider skills vital for success in further study or employment including self confidence, working with others, taking responsibility and time management.

This course is open to motivated individuals with an interest in massage therapy. An interest to progress within other areas of study would be ideal and you place is subject to an interview.

On successful completion of the course you can progress to other therapies e.g. Indian head massage, pre-blended oils or a full-time beauty therapy course. Alternatively you may decide to provide treatments for friends and members of your family.

By the end of the course you will have developed a new skill and benefited from a valuable insight in future study or careers open to you.
