The course aims to teach delegates all aspects of providing first aid in emergencies, with an emphasis on those occurring in the workplace. Handling 'life threatening' situations is covered as well as recognising and responding to some of the more common ailments that may be encountered.

Prerequisites
The ability and willingness to undertake the duties of a First Aider.
Suitability
The course is designed for people who are required to fill the post of First Aider in the workplace. It is also ideal for those who wish to be able to have sufficient knowledge to give aid in an emergency at home or outside the work environment.

Employers and staff who need to meet the requirements of the HSE (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Qualification
After successful written and practical examination an HSE First Aid at Work Qualification which is Valid for 3 Years* will be achieved.
* In line with new HSE regulations, this certificate has changed to a 3 year validity with annual refresher courses followed by a 2 day refresher at 3 years. Those already holding the certificate upon change of regulation will remain current for the original validity period.
