First Aid at Work Requalification
Overview
Anyone who needs to renew a valid first aid at work certificate.
Prerequisites
Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline and must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requires all delegates attending a requalification course to have a current and valid first aid certificate prior to attending

Course Outline.
This course provides an indepth understanding on the role of a
First Aider at work.
The following key topics are covered:
• Communicating with a casualty
• Contents of First Aid kit and avoiding cross infection
• Recording of incidents and accidents
• Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safety,
promptly and effectively in an emergency;
• Administer first aid to a casualty who is:
• Unconscious (including seizures)
• Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
• Choking
• Wounded & Bleeding
• Shock
• Burns & Scalds
• Eye Injuries
• Administer first aid to a casualty with: Injuries to bones,
muscles & joints including suspected spinal injury
• Chest Injuries
• Sudden Poisoning
• Anaphylactic Shock
• Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate
first aid including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma &
diabetes
• Administer Aspirin
Examinations
Continuous assessment by observation, practical scenarios and questions.
Certifications
Leads to the following certification(s) First Aid at Work
