Music Performance Techniques
In this area of the course you develop your technique as both a soloist and group musician from practice through to performance. You will learn how to critique performances at different levels, and how to identify the essential elements that make an excellent performance. You will learn the skills to help you practice effectively and improve your proficiency on your instrument. You will get the opportunity to develop recording skills as an aid to practice and will be able to greatly improve your listening skills.

Pop Music in Practice
For this unit of work you will learn about the history of Pop Music
and how to identify different genres and styles. You will get the
opportunity to emulate famous performers and styles and compare
your own performances with the original recording. You will be able
to experiment with different styles and play both solos and in
groups. A wide variety of styles will be covered and you may
discover music you never knew existed!
Music Project
In this unit you will become band manager, performer, sound
engineer, lighting technician and roadie all rolled into one. You
will be in charge of producing a ‘gig’ and will be given a specific
role for the event which you will carry through from basic planning
to performance.
