This course covers the management of the procurement cycle from developing a supply strategy through to placing, managing and closing a supply contract. It provides a good foundation for understanding the processes and techniques required to procure goods and services needed for the successful delivery of a project or programme. This course is suitable for project and programme managers who require a basic understanding of the procurement process in relation to project and programme delivery.

Delegates will learn how to

  • Describe the procurement life cycle and its stages
  • Recognise case law and its impact at all stages of procurement, including international and EU requirements
  • Develop a supplier selection process, including categorizing needs, gathering information and minimizing risks
  • Understand the requirements for producing contract documentation including contract payment options, and
  • terms and conditions
  • Understand the requirements for planning and managing a tender, including timetable, documentation, resources, communication, issues and evaluation techniques
  • Establish key performance indicators within supplier and contract management, including the management of relationships
  • Understand negotiation strategies and the process to ensure successful outcomes
  • Understand and use company financial information to assess supplier sustainability
