New Year brings with it the desire for a fresh start. As we look to the future, QA's Leadership and Management specialists invite you to join us for the first in a series of dynamic and interactive summits, on the leadership issues that matter to you.

Our first Summit, 'Scanning the Leadership Horizon', is an exploration of some of the ways that we, as learning professionals, can support our leaders to develop the long range view. The Summit provides exciting insights on some of the most pressing trends and challenges for senior leaders in 2013 and the learning interventions that resolve them.

The combination of world-class thinkers, learning designers and fellow L&D professionals provides an exciting environment to network, share Best Practice and expand your thinking.

Session One: Breakthrough Talent: Identifying and Nurturing Tomorrow's Leaders

Keynote speaker: Charles Elvin, Chief Executive, Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM)

Charles has held senior roles in blue chip companies including UBS and RM, and more recently held leadership roles at the Open University and the British Standards Institution's global commercial learning and training business.Charles will share with us both his own experience and also from ILM perspective:

  • what to look out for in new and fresh talent
  • how to spot the leaders of the future
  • the key components of an effective high performance talent programme
  • the common mistakes in leadership talent management
  • 'The secret sauce' - a reveal on the crucial new factor affecting leadership capability and success

Session Two: The Elephant in the Room: Addressing the Dynamics that make or Break Leadership Success

Keynote speaker: Nuala Forsey, Head of Leadership at QA

Nuala Forsey is an accomplished and experienced leadership coach. Nuala enables Boards and senior teams to address the underlying tensions within their relationships and bring together their individual talents and perspectives to form powerful and transformational teams. Nuala will be sharing stories from her experiences of working with senior teams and providing a dynamic toolkit for practitioners to call on to facilitate similar sessions in their own world of work. Nuala will explore:

  • how creating mutual accountability can lead to astonishing results
  • the dangers and risks of unaddressed tensions and resentments
  • how developing trust and deeper relationships help to develop high performance teams

Session Three: The Art of Strategic Leadership: Building the Capability to keep your Organisational Promises

Keynote speaker: Nick Kemsley, Owner of Org-onomic Ltd, and Co-Director of Henley Business School Centre for HR Excellence

Through his 20 year, multi sector career with globally-renowned businesses at Global, European and Local levels, Nick has become a renowned expert on organisational capability and HR effectiveness. Nick will share with us:

  • how to make the link between business strategy and organisational capability
  • the vital importance of effectively managing organisational risk
  • how this allows HR to build credibility and influence strategy
  • howleaders must develop a keen awareness of organisational risk
