This advanced award is designed to prepare you for a career in the joinery industry by instilling the job knowledge and practical skills required for this sector.

How will I be assessed?

Underpinning knowledge and practical support is given once a week on a day-release basis at college. You will be expected to collect work-based evidence and photos for your portfolio, which will will enable you to achieve the NVQ.

You will also be required to undertake Functional Skills in Englsih and Maths.

What does the course lead to?

Upon completion you could gain employment as a professional joiner/carpenter.

What can I go on to study?

On completion of the award you could progress to the AVCE (Advanced Vocational Certificate in Education) Built Environment course.

Entry requirements

Applicants with trade experience or a relevant construction diploma at Level 2 may apply.

The total price for both parts (the NVQ and Diploma) is £1,262. Please note - both parts MUST be studied together (see details below).
