Successful completion of the course will provide you with a Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of the Assessment Processes and Practice.

Description

The course will be appropriate for you if your role involves:

- Evaluating the internal assessment process.
- Monitoring and reviewing internal assessment audit systems.
- Carrying out related internal verification or moderation activities.

How long is the course?

The course normally lasts for six months but this can vary. There is one 4-hour session initially, plus three workshops at agreed times throughout the period of the course.

This course is offered on a blended basis (a mix of classroom-based learning and online/distance learning).

How will I be assessed?

You will cover 2 units which are:

1. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

2. Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment

You will have to compile a portfolio of evidence demonstrating how your organisation monitors the quality of programmes and assessment and meets the requirements of the qualification.

What will I study?

The course includes and will develop your skills in the following:

Quality assurance planning and processes including standardisation
Supporting and monitoring assessors
Arranging standardisation meetings
Generating evidence as a by-product of the work you do with your assessors
What is expected from the professional discussion
Liaising with quality management personnel to gather additional evidence

What else can I do?

Assessing and internal quality assuring must be part of the candidates working environment.

What does the course lead to?

Upon completion of the course you will be equipped with a nationally recognised qualification that is transferable across a variety of sectors.

A further unit can be added to enable you to become a Lead Internal Quality Assurer.

Entry requirements

You must meet the following criteria:

Have held a Level 3 Assessor Award qualification for at least one year.

Be suitably qualified in the subject area that your assessors are working in.

Be able to operate and evaluate internal assessment and quality assurance systems.

Have access to at least two assessors who you can support and whose performance you can monitor.

Be in a position to meet external quality assurance requirements.

In addition, all applicants must be interviewed prior to starting the course.
