Each category has it's own competence level for entry to assessment.
Category 2 operative - application conditions require that this applicant obtains employment with a gas registered business that is willing to provide an extended period of company 'in house' gas training and organisational support prior to taking the ACS assessment.
Applicants must provide evidence that they hold qualifications demonstrating competence in work activities associated with fossil fuelled appliances/equipment and/or pipework installation.
Category 3 operatives - are new entrants to the gas industry and have no relevant qualifications or experience. The conditions rquire that this applicant obtains employment as in Category 2 above but must also complete a portfolio of evidence as proof of this On the Job gas training.
The duration and content of the training programme will be determined by the scope of gas work to be undertaken. Evidence of such training must be presented to the ACS Centre prior to the operative taking assessments.
